What Do I Do?

I’m a Counselling Psychotherapist using a trauma-informed and integrative Expressive Arts Therapy approach, rooted in evidence-based, emotion-focused therapy.  This approach draws on psychodynamic principles blended with transpersonal, gestalt and person-centred methods.

Who Do I Work With?

I work with adults with a range of presenting issues: anxiety, self-harm, panic, disordered eating, low-mood, low-self esteem, lack of confidence, anger and frustration, grief and loss, issues relating to medical/health issues (I am a breast cancer survivor: 20 years post), neuro-divergence (e.g. ASD, ADHD), LGBTQ+ or social challenges.

What Are My Qualifications?

I hold a Masters Degree in Social Science (Counselling) (2008), a Diploma in Managing Learning Disorders and Child Psychology (2010) a Graduate Dip. in Parent Coaching (2012) as well as being trained in EMDR with expressive therapy (2023), Expressive Therapies (2017) Sandplay & Symbol Work (2011), and Expressive Arts Therapies – Trauma-Informed (2024). What About On-going Professional Development?

As an integrative expressive therapist I draw supportive strategies from a myriad of workshops and trainings attended over the last two decades: Non-Violent Communication.  Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (.b) (MBCT).  Strengths-based interventions drawn from Appreciative Inquiry, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy and as a Virtues Project Trainer. Dialectic Behavioural Therapy (DBT).  Inter-Personal Neuro-Biology (IPNB).  Sensory-Motor Art Therapy and Guided Drawing.  Psychosynthesis. Trauma-Informed Expressive Art Therapy.  Sandplay and Symbol Work.  Trauma-Informed top-down and bottom-up approaches.  ASIST-trained.  Family Constellations.  Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).

What’s My Background and Experience?

I was a the Founding President of the non-profit Waldorf Steiner Education Association in Singapore in 2003 which focused on creative and play-based early childhood education. I ran playgroups and kindergarten until diagnosed with breast cancer in 2005.  This seismic event inspired me to re-train as a Counselor (graduated from a Masters in 2008) and seek ways to integrate the head-heart-hands approach into my therapeutic work. From 2009 to 2020, I worked as an International School Counsellor in Singapore running workshops and classes for parents and students, individual therapy sessions as well as group interventions in the school setting.

In July 2016 I established the Gentle Art of Expressive Therapy as a part-time private practice and offered individual therapy sessions. Four years later in July 2020 it became my full-time role. Today, as well as one-on-one client sessions, I offer supervision for counsellors, psychotherapists, expressive therapists and social workers who use expressive therapies as well as being an approved-ETA trainer offering certificate courses in Sandplay and Symbol Work with Children, Teens and Adults and Expressive Therapies for those working in the mental-health, allied professions and coaches focused on client growth.

I am the proud mother of two sons: one young working adult and one now at University in the UK. Both completed their National Service in Singapore prior to launching themselves into the world of “adulting”.  I’m Singapore-based, London-born. Prior to relocating to Singapore in 2000, I lived and worked in London in various marketing roles in investment banks, financial markets conference organising, and wines and spirits.

Do I belong to any Professional Bodies?
