Expressive Therapies is an integrative approach which incorporates Emotion-Focused Therapy, attachment and trauma-sensitive methods into creative arts therapies. This highly experiential course offers training that promotes emotional integration, self-awareness and resilience in children and adolescents.
You will learn to support young clients to:
- Explore family of origin issues using art and Symbol Work (miniatures)
- Process strong emotions, resolve grief, release anger and frustration
- Use movement and visualisation for somatic-self-expression
- Use therapeutic writing and worksheets for enhancing reflection and communication
The activities in the course are used with children from 6 to 19 years. Research and supervision reports indicate that Expressive Therapies provides substantial long-term benefits such as an increase in resilience, self-motivation, increased attention span, less aggressive behaviour and a stronger sense of self.
