About the Training
Expressive Therapies is an integrative, client-centred and trauma-informed approach to counselling that uses creative and experiential processes to support emotional integration, self-awareness and resilience.
Training is delivered through immersive three-day modules, allowing participants to develop practical skills progressively while choosing a pathway that reflects their professional development needs.
Your Training Pathway
Certificate in Expressive Therapies with Children, Adolescents & Teens
Complete a minimum of five modules and the required assignments.
- Minimum five training modules / 15 training days.
- Completion of 3 assignments: end-of-module online quiz; reflective engagement essay and client-case reflective essay.
- Professional eligibility requirements apply.
Advanced Certificate in Expressive Therapies
- Minimum six training modules.
- Completion of 3 assignments: end-of-module online quiz; reflective engagement essay and client-case reflective essay
- 25 hours of supervision.
- This can be a combination of Group and Individual Supervisions. Must included a minimum of two individual supervision sessions and a max of 23 group sessions (each 2hr group session counts as equal to 1 hour of individual).

- Emotion-focused and somatic approaches using creative media.
- Engagement, safety and contraindications for emotionally activating activities.

Required for the Certificate. Strongly recommended as your first module, particularly if you are new to Expressive Therapies.
Three-day moduleEmotional Empowerment through Applying Expressive TherapiesExplore module
Support young clients to recognise emotions, express their experiences and develop a stronger sense of self.

- Emotional literacy, trust and safety.
- Symbol Work and role-play with miniatures.
- Therapeutic writing, visual arts and metaphor.
- Somatic expression, bioenergetic games and session planning.

Plan and facilitate creative therapeutic groups using the Innerspace programme as a practical reference.

Three-day moduleBalancing Emotional, Cognitive and Somatic Processes: Integrative Expressive Therapy PracticeExplore module
Bring together cognitive, emotional and body-focused approaches in an integrated therapeutic practice.
What you will explore
- Integrating creative modalities and therapeutic relating.
- Scaffolding emotion-focused work and resolving reactivity.
- Body focus, breath awareness, music and rhythm.
- Cognitive clarity and individualised multimodal session planning.

Who Is It For?
For practitioners whose professional work involves supporting children, adolescents and young people.
- Hold a qualification allowing practice in a therapeutic or allied professional role.
- Be in good standing with the relevant professional body where applicable.
- Complete a minimum of five modules for the Certificate.
- Attend the required training days, with a maximum permitted absence of 10 hours across the Certificate programme.
- Submit the required written assignments, including a 1,500-word reflective practice essay plus a case review.
Professional backgrounds may include counsellors, psychologists, social workers, art therapists, play therapists, psychotherapists, teachers and other allied health or helping professionals.
