Engagement in creative expressive therapies connects us to our own potential for healing. It is sad that so many people view themselves as “bad at art” but the fundamental healing power of self expression through music, movement, sound, touch, colour and shape is an innate part being human. We ignore it or shut it down at our peril.
As Robert Gabby tells us in the video I’ve posted below “Art has been around since the origin of our species . . . for it to have lasted as long as it has says something important about how central it is to human existence”.
Find the medicine (modality) that brings you into connect with the forgotten voice of your own soul. Sing, dance, paint, draw, play. Don’t listen to the part of you that says “You’re not good at art”. Thank it for the warning – and then make art anyway!
